Servidora
es una ferviente fan del metal escandinavo y en todas sus variantes ya sea
black, death, viking, pagan, gothik, black-thrash, avantgard y demás variantes,
y también, por supuesto de la genética nórdica que nos otorga ejemplares nunca
vistos por estas tierras. Pero pocas veces se tiene la suerte de descubrir
bandas nuevas que, si bien ya llevan bastantes años en la escena metal de su
país, por alguna razón hasta nuestras fronteras no han trascendido. Aquí os las
presento prácticamente en exclusiva.
LA BESTIA QUE ESPERA EN LA OSCURIDAD
Estos
noruegos, ya llevan en la escena casi diez años, pues se formaron en el 2003,
editando su primera demo en 2004 y fichando bastante pronto por el sello alemán
Twilight-Vertrieb, con los que sacaron su álbum debut Aggravation of Mind (2006)
y su segundo largo Bestial Supremacy (2008).
A nivel musical, Sarkom practica metal. Black,
harsh o como se quiera llamar. No es nada nuevo, pero tampoco son la típica
banda ‘old school’ sobre todo en el tratamiento de las guitarras donde se
percibe cierta metalidad que en otras bandas no se escucha a la primera. Así
pues, realizan su propia versión sin miedo a experimentar llegando a usar
incluso trompeta y saxofón. Para su nuevo álbum, que tiene previsto estar
terminado para otoño, tienen en mente realizar algo realmente atípico en el
black metal. ‘Doomsday Elite’, será el título de su tercer largo.
Han
girado tres veces por Europa (el último show que hicieron fue a finales de
junio de este mismo año), pero nunca han pisado terreno español. También han
participado en varios festivales, en su mayoría en Alemania.
La
banda está formada actualmente por: Unsgaard a las voces, Strönen a la guitara
y Sgt. V. al bajo, aunque el line-up que aparecerá para el nuevo álbum se
complementa con Sagstad a la guitarra, Renton en el apartado de efectos y Uruz
a la batería.

THE BEAST WHO WAITES IN THE DARKNESS
Started in 2003 and recorded
a demo the year after, easily entitled "Demo 2004". This was spread
around, and the feedback was really good. They soon got picked up by the German
label Twilight-Vertrieb, which released both their debut and second album.
Sarkom have toured Europe three times and they have also participated on some
festivals around in Europe. Over the years, Sarkom have also released some
7" EPs. At the moment they are about to finish the recordings for their
third album, DOOMSDAY ELITE, which hopefully will be released this autumn.
Sarkom plays metal. Black,
harsh or whatever. Nothing new, but not a typical old school band either, specially
in the guitars sound, which they are more metalized than in other bands. They
try to do their own thing, and they are not afraid to experiment... They have
for example used both trumpet and saxophone before, and the upcoming album will
definately also have some really untipical "black metal" tunes in it!

BIENVENIDO
A TU INVIERNO…
So
Much For Nothing, es la otra banda que os presento y que también está liderada
por E. Unsgaard, y es quizá ésta la que más repercusión ha tenido por el hecho
de contar (entre otras colaboraciones) con el líder de los suecos Shining,
Niklas Kvårforth.
Este
proyecto, nace en 2007 cuando Unsgaard escribe unas canciones oscurantistas
pero sencillas de escuchar y decide que es un buen momento para darle forma a
un disco entero. Como buen músico del norte de Europa, toca prácticamente todos
los instrumentos a excepción de la batería, donde entra en acción Uruz para
ayudarle. Entran pues a grabar en agosto de 2009 para finalizarlo en octubre de
2010. El debut se edita bajo el nombre de ‘Livsgnist’ y salió en enero de este
mismo año gracias a su actual sello italiano My Kingdom Music.
Varios
magazines se hacen eco de esta propuesta musical y recibe muy buenas críticas,
salvo excepciones.
Su
estilo se describe como dark and destructive metal-pop/rock, y aquí viene la
confusión: que nadie espere encontrarse un pastiche tipo ‘ABBA meets ¿?’ porque
se pegará un buen morrazo. Su sonido es un rock metalizado con mucha fuerza y
muy bien cuidado y elegante, intimista e invernal.
Actualmente,
Unsgaard está ya preparando canciones para su nuevo álbum y también espera poder
salir en breve a defenderlo, por lo que la banda actualmente está formada por
Erik Unsgaard voces y sección rítmica y Uruz a las baquetas.

WELCOME TO YOUR WINTER…
So Much For Nothing is the
other band that E. Unsgaard started a few years ago as a solo project. Their style,
metal-pop/rock, is so particular, because he doesn’t understand ‘pop’ like we
understand it here (fortunately) is more than that. Elegant, strong, wintry and
intimate are only a few adjectives to describe their metalized rock proposal.
In 2007 Unsgaard wrote a
couple of dark, yet easy-listening songs, and this was the actual birth of So
Much For Nothing. As it started to shape up with both more songs and lyrics, he
decided to write a whole album. Time passed by and at the beginning of 2009
eight songs were good to go.
He realized that he needed a
drummer with really good skills to make this sound the way it deserved, so he
asked co-musician Uruz to help him out. The recording started in August 2009
and bit by bit, it was finally finished in October 2010. On the way he got
several guest musicians to participate which really makes this album nothing
but unique. The release of their debut album "Livsgnist" was in january
2012. The italian label My Kingdom Music is their current label. Before, SMFN
released a 7" split EP with Angst Skvadron in 2011.
Right now SMFN are putting
together a line up so that they can start playing live pretty soon. Unsgaard
have also most of the songs for a new album ready, so hopefully they will
record it this year.
The reviews from
"Livsgnist" has been owherwhelming, and with just a few exceptions,
the score has been nearly maximum all over from magazines, zines etc.
SMFN plays dark and destructive metal-pop/rock.
